HOW TO IMPROVE READING
About Me

Hello!  My name is Miriam Vidas.  I have loved Reading and also taught Reading as a teacher.  I specialized in Reading at the Master's level.    I believe Reading is very important especially to our children and in today's world.  There are various ways we can help our children improve their reading and encourage them to read.  We want to make it fun and enjoyable at the same time teaching them skills to help them.

I grew up reading many of the classics and mysteries like the Nancy Drew series and I loved Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House on the Prairie" books.  I actually thought the best one was The Long Winter.  That  did happen in history.  Later it won an award.  She was a great writer.
Louisa May Alcott was another writer I loved.  Her books  Under the Lilacs  and  Little Women, were favorites of mine.

I think parents can help by reading to their children.  Mine did and I loved it.  My dad read Heidi Grows Up  (Heidi series) to me and I would say when finished, "Read it again."  My mother often read to us in the afternoon on the bed while we all rested.  She would find shortened versions of books in magazines like 101 Dalmations.
