HOW TO IMPROVE READING
Helpful Hints
I believe we can encourage our children to read in many and unique ways.  Children love to act things out.  They could act out characters they read about.  They could even make a game of it and have others guess who they are.  Anything that spurs interest and enjoyment.  Even puppets can be used.  They love puppeteering.

Research tells us that many students graduating from High School cannot read well enough to do simple things or do simple math.  This problem can be solves.  Our children are smart.  They can be taught important ideas and concepts.  They can learn to read more efficiently.  You and I can encourage them to be a better reader.
It is clear then, that Reading continues to be a problem in North America.  In an article "New Orleans takes on intractable literacy problem", it stated that in Orleans Parish  the adults were at the lowest level of literacy that of 44%.  The national average is 25%.
The New York Times said that the Internet seems to  be the "enemy" of reading.  Others say the Internet has created a new kind of reading,  one that schools and society should not discount.  Some children with dyslexia and other learning difficulties have found it far more comfortable to search and read online.  Some experts even say that online reading skills will help children fare better when they begin looking for digital-age
jobs.  Some even feel these skills should be evaluated just at they are tested on their print reading comprehension.
I say we can incorporate both.  If children read a book of print, then we could reward them with time on the Internet or if they think of a good topic on the Internet, that could be their Reading.
The trick is to keep it fun and interesting.
